The Executive Secretary is the overseer of all the functions of the
secretariat. Apart from exercising his executive duties,The executive
Secretary has in the past roped into BOCONGO voluteers and trainees
from other stakeholder such as the United Nations and SADC when
such projects have been seen as furthering the aspirations of the civil
society and the nation at large.

POLICY ADVOCACY AND LOBBYING PROGRAMME
The Policy, Advocacy and Lobbying Programme allows NGOs to work as a
united front on issues of national interest. Advocacy and lobbying, especially
on broad policy issues. This programme is based on issues that emerge from
desk studies and researches undertaken through this programme. At the
moment, Mr. Ketlhomilwe Moletsane has pushed to get the NGO Policy
approved.

The other project under this programme is the Civil Society Index study
which is funded by United Nations through CIVICUS. This study aims at
strengthening CSO's role in participatory government. The principal purpose
of the project is to support and promote the develoment of effective and
sustainable relations between governments, regional bodies and the civil
society

   
This project will especially seek to promote a conducive framework of engagement between SADC as well as individual governments and civil society within the SADC region. The projet will draw upon the various CSO's in the region and also build upon CIVICUS and other CSO's experience in conducting interventions to protect the space for civil society to exist.

CAPACITY BUILDING PROGRAMME
The building training is designed to strengthen existing institutional and organisational structures of local NGOs, to improve their capacity to deliver services, and to continue making a contribution into the future. NGO's need continuous capacity buildig training on selected areas. The areas for training and strengthening should be based on the periodic needs assessment. Issues of NGO governance, management, leadership, financial management, record keeping are an intergral part of the capacity building office. To achieve the above, as stipulated in the strategic plan the capacity building office engages in the following:
