» Botswana Council of Non-Governmental Organisations

The Botswana Council of Non-Governmental Organisations (BOCONGO) is the national umbrella body for Non-Governmental Organisations in Botswana. BOCONGO was officially registered in 1995 with the Registrar of Societies (Registration No. CR1957).

Governance Structure

The Council is governed by a General Assembly, which is made up of representatives from paid up members. The affairs of the General Assembly are run by the Secretariat, which is the implementing arm of the council, responsible for the day to day management and administrative work of the Council. It is headed by the Executive Secretary who is assisted by other professional staff. The Secretariat is provided with policy guidance by the Executive Committee which is made up of elected representatives from the membership.

	Secretarial Capacity Building
	The programme is aimed at building the capacity of the BOCONGO Secretariat to enable it to effectively discharge its mandate. The programme covers issues of Human resources, supplies, Records, Finance and Accounts, and Asset Management and Development

	Policy Advocacy and Lobbying Programme
	The primary objective of this programme is to develop a vibrant civil society that effectively participates in poverty reduction initiatives, human rights promotion as well as promotion of best practices by BOCONGO members.

	BOCONGO will be holding the following trainings for it’s members in Gaborone ,Francistown, and Palapye from the 9th to the 27th of November.
	Through the Non State Actors Capacity building programme, BOCONGO will ,during the months of October , November and December , undertake the following programmes
	The Forum syd HIV AIDS partnership is scheduled for the 9th to the 13th of November in Francistown . This partnership includes Forum Syd , BOCONGO , BONASO , BONEPWA and BONELA.
	BOCONGO will be participating in the 2009 world HIV + AIDS day PLW HIV week in Kasane from the 25TH November to the 1st of December 2009.
